„To make sure the two of us meet” is an art film by Tieu-Anh Ly, which non-narrative tells an associative portrait of a young woman in an emptied, designedambience. The film leaves a lot of space for a philosophical atmosphere and the image with its high-quality advertising aesthetic slowly transforms

into an image of depression / melancholy. The fragmentary, open scenes speak like a spatialization

of loneliness. The sound spectrum of the film is limited to various quiet noises and a few monologues and voiceover. The individual film scenes look like stand-alone modules that are underlined by the colors of the rooms. They tell of everyday situations, concentrating on the essence of feeling, and getting by without any dramaturgy. The contrast between the 'real' and 'emotional' world becomes blurred. Topics such as an unspoken separation, longing for home and tradition are touched on here, but the protagonist does not resolve them. The contrast between Western and Far Eastern cultures is juxtaposed and the question of identity and belonging arises in the room. The question of being, raised by timelessness and powerlessness, comes more and more to the fore towards the end, until at the end you no longer know exactly whether what you have seen corresponds to reality and whether you can trust what you have experienced.
